Ask Quote of the Day: “Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, What’s in it for me?” – Brian Tracy
Today in History: It was on this date in 2008 when Bernie Madoff was arrested and charged with securities fraud in what was called a $50-billion dollar Ponzi scheme.
Wuss’up This Week: The Consumer Price Index! Four of them being released today, along with four Producer Price Index reports tomorrow, and the Import Price Index report on Friday. If these reports come in good for the economy, you’ll see rates tick up, and vice versa if the numbers come in worse than expected.
Interest Rate Update: We had a teeny rate rally last week which helped. “Teeny” being the key word, but at least we might be headed the right direction. For small loans ($250k or less) they can be found in the low-6s for a conforming 30yr fixed, in the high-6s/low 7s for loans at $251k-$766k, and for jumbo loans (*that’s any loan over $766k) they can be found in the mid-6s for 30yr fixed and low-6s for ARMs. As usual rates will vary based on type of home, equity in the home, your credit score, if you’re a first time home buyer, and if you want to know 22 facts about the movie Elf.
Possible Game Show Answer: Venus is the only planet in our solar system that spins clockwise. Scientists believe this is because the planet was actually knocked upside down due to a collision billions of years ago. (*Knocked upside down? Sounds like something I would’ve made up if I was a NASA scientist.)
Don’t Forget to Remember: Any purchase or refinance loan that closes with me I will waive $450 in lender fees! Grab yourself a cup of instant karma and pass my info along to any friends, family, coworkers, or people with horrible tattoos that can use this gift.
Ask Quote of the Day 2: “Do you think when they asked George Washington for ID, he just whipped out a quarter?” – Steven Wright
Timeout for Trivia: Congrats to those who guessed Elliot Page last week! Want to be entered into a drawing to win a Ho Ho Homer Simpson Bobblehead? Simply email me the answer to this week’s Who Am I? question. Good luck:“It’s my birthday today, and while I’m getting up there in years, I still have a beautiful face. Speaking of beautiful, that reminds me of the Academy Award I won in 2001. I’ve been ranked as one of the most beautiful women in the world by Vanity Fair, Esquire, and the Los Angeles Times which is maybe why I’ve been paired as the leading lady in movies with Tom Cruise, Leo DiCaprio, Joaquin Phoenix, and Keanu Reeves to name a few. And yes, Bradley Cooper too, although he just wasn’t into me. I have three children who are 26, 20, and 12 years old so they’re not that little anymore. Haha – OMG – that has nothing to do with my 2006 movie that got me an Oscar nomination.”
Happy 8th birthday, Slater! I’m looking forward to helping you with your 2043 home loan purchase.
